Background

Biography
Truda Lane studied at Ealing College of Art and the Slade where visiting tutors included Lucian Freud and fellow students Michael Andrews and Euan Uglow. Studying under William Coldstream and Rudolf Wittkower, Truda was awarded multiple first prizes in both figure and landscape drawing and a scholarship for extended study. After working at the College of Arms in London she taught at the North London Collegiate School where she became friends with the designer Peggy Angus, staying at her house Furlongs.
In 1958 she married John Lane, a painter and writer whom she met at the Slade. The couple lived on the North Yorkshire moors before moving to the Torridge Valley in North Devon. Artists such as Edward Bawden became friends.
Truda has continued to draw throughout her life.
